The name comes from the pink color painted on the floor. It was painted for the first time for a fashion show, and people liked it, and it stayed. Ever since.

I mean, seriously, Alfama is like a maze of history, narrow streets twistin’ like a secret yin-yang, and my heart hops every time I pass by the Portas do Sol overlook. I used to sit on top of that spot, just watchin’ the sunset play games with the Tagus River. The air’s thick with history and incense of fresh grilled sardines – oh damn, the smells!
