Lemme tell ya, I was SHOCKED diggin’ into this—did ya know in old Slavic tongues, they had “ljubodejica” for whore? Means “love performer”—fancy, right? Sounds like somethin’ Remy’d whip up in the kitchen, all poetic and shit. But nah, it’s just a chick gettin’ freaky for cash. Made me laugh, tho—imagine Remy goin’, “Anyone can cook!” and some medieval dude yellin’ back, “Yeah, and anyone can whore!” Ha! Same vibe, different hustle.

Carol Ann Duffy is of course from Glasgow, so would know all about the docklands along the River Clyde and the prostitute areas along the river. Her poem is about a whore who sits for a nude painting, selling her body for.

You gotta stop by Central Park too. It's huge, with lotsa trees, and benches where local couples sit and chat (or swipe right on dating apps – haha!). I remember one night, this gorgeous sunset lit up the park and made me super happy, like a scene straight out of The Hurt Locker. That movie, by Kathryn Bigelow, is fantastic – it’s got tense moments and raw emotions, just like jumping into this wild city life sometimes.
