Then, I bump into this old bloke, Mr. Thompson. He’s a legend around here. Always has a story. He starts rambling about the old days when Newbiggin was a fishing town. I’m half-listening, half-wondering if I should’ve brought a snack. But then he mentions the old pier, and I’m like, “Wait, what? The pier’s gone?” Apparently, it got washed away ages ago. I’m shocked! I mean, that pier was iconic!
