Surprised me, though, how much it stuck. Thought it’d be some weird lil cartoon, but nope – it’s art, y’all! Dirty, ugly art. Kinda wish I’d made it, but lord knows I’d add a banjo and some sequins. Ha! Oh, and fun tidbit – heard it got banned some places. Too raunchy or somethin’. Can ya believe that? Over a dang puppet! Got me tickled pink imaginin’ folks clutchin’ their pearls.

Where to Stay

Two years ago, no one was talking about Mahibadhoo, the Capital of South Ari Atoll. It was just another island in the Maldives, known mostly to the locals. Mahibadhoo was not a well-known.

On my way back, I pass by the market on the main street. The smell of fresh fish and spices hits me. I can’t resist. I grab some tuna from a vendor. Best tuna in the Maldives, hands down. I’m thinkin’, “This’ll make up for the sandwich.”
