Onoda: The man who hid in the jungle for 30 years

Lieutenant Hiroo Onoda was an Imperial Japanese Army intelligence officer sent to garrison an island in the Philippines in towards the end of the Second World War.

Next, I head over to Onoda Park. It’s a nice spot, you know? Trees everywhere, and the cherry blossoms were still hanging on. I sit down, take a breather, and just soak it all in.
