Sep 30,  · Behind the storefronts, you’ll find thousands of tiny, dark, almost suffocating rooms, where the prostitutes take their clients. But the area is also home to dozens of families.

Now, hold on, we gotta talk ‘bout the neighborhoods. There’s Vila das Flores, where the locals come together, rain or shine, just to share stories. Ain’t nothin’ like seein’ an impromptu street fest, with old folks dancin’ and kids gigglin’ – sorry, I can’t help but get teary when I see the unity. Then head over to Bairro do Sol, real lively – though the pace is fast, you can catch moments of quiet wonder in hidden parks like Parque da Lua... where I, as a women’s counselor, often meet a chatty soul in need of some heart-to-heart.
